Dr. Bum-Jin Chung
Dr. Bum-Jin Chung has served as a member of the board of NuScale Power Corporation since December 2022 and as a professor of Nuclear Engineering at Kyung Hee University in South Korea since 2013.
As an expert in nuclear thermal hydraulics and safety, Dr. Chung has served on various government and industry committees on nuclear safety, research and development, and national energy and electricity planning. Dr. Chung has also been called upon as an international expert, consulting with the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
Previously, Dr. Chung has served as the vice president of the Korean Nuclear Society in 2017 and 2022 and as a professor of Nuclear and Energy Engineering at Jeju National University in South Korea from 2002 to 2013. Dr. Chung started his career at the Korean Ministry of Science and Technology in 1995, serving as the high-level nuclear regulatory and national nuclear R&D officer.
Dr. Chung received his Ph.D. from Seoul National University and also studied at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
